Questions and answers
Moving countries comes with questions. Here are some good places to start.
Is Bulgaria in the EU and Schengen?
Yes. Bulgaria joined the EU in 2007 and became a full Schengen member in January 2025.
What currency does Bulgaria use?
The euro, since 1 January 2026.
How much tax will I pay?
Bulgaria has a 10% flat personal income tax and 10% corporate tax. What you pay depends on your tax residency and income, so we connect you with a licensed accountant.
Does Bulgaria have a digital nomad visa?
Yes. Since December 2025, non-EU remote workers who earn from outside Bulgaria can apply. The income requirement is linked to the minimum wage — about €31,000 a year for 2026 applications. It lasts up to one year and can be renewed once. You cannot work for Bulgarian clients on it.
I'm British. Can I still move to Bulgaria after Brexit?
Yes, but you need the right residence route to stay longer than 90 days in any 180. We'll tell you which route fits you on the free call.
I'm an EU citizen. Do I need a visa?
No. You register your residence locally. We help with the paperwork, home, bank and tax number.
Can I open a company as a foreigner?
Yes. Foreigners can own a Bulgarian company (EOOD). We coordinate the set-up, bank account and accountant.
Are you lawyers?
No. We coordinate your whole move. Legal filings are handled by licensed Bulgarian lawyers we work with, and tax by licensed accountants.
Can you promise my visa will be approved?
No one honestly can. Decisions are made by the Bulgarian authorities. We make sure your application is complete and correct.
How much does it cost?
It depends on your route and family size. After the free call we send a clear fixed quote.
Do I need to speak Bulgarian?
No. We work in English. Learning a few words helps, and people will love you for it.
